The 13th National Information and Library Week “INFOLIB O’ZBEKISTON-2024” has begun at the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Diloram Toshmuhamedova, the leadership of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications, the National Library, specialists from information and library centers, publishing and printing, famous writers and poets, publicists, book lovers, the population and media representatives.

The Director of the Agency Asadjon Khodjayev welcomed the participants and informed them about the work being carried out to implement the idea of ​​“A Nation of Book Lovers” put forward by the President.

“Librarians play an important role in implementing this idea and promoting books”, says Mr. Khodjayev. “Private libraries, created by dozens of proactive citizens of our country, are becoming increasingly important in raising the reading culture in society”.

Writers, poets, and public representatives emphasized that workshops, open dialogues, a national forum, and other events held within the framework of the Week are of great importance in finding solutions to current problems in libraries, publishing, and children’s literature.

The week’s program includes more than 30 projects, including roundtable discussions, meetings with writers and poets, book presentations, conferences, masterclasses, concerts, and creative competitions.
