The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the regional office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia signed a Cooperation Program for 2024-2025, which will give new impetus to the development of interaction.

At a meeting between the Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov and the UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia, Ms. Ashita Mittal, the parties exchanged views on the issues on the agenda.

Aspects of cooperation in justice and law were discussed, as well as the progress achieved in identifying and eliminating corruption-prone norms in legislation and improving forensic examination.

Ms. Ashita Mittal noted the Ministry of Justice’s important role in the large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan.

The parties signed a Cooperation Program for 2024-2025 at the meeting.

This document provides for strengthening the anti-corruption and asset recovery system, ensuring cybersecurity and protection of personal information, improving legislation on criminal proceedings and crime prevention, improving work in forensic medical examination, and increasing legal literacy and culture in the population.
