The Second Islamic Arts Biennale “And All That Is In Between” continues its work in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, within the framework of which the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation presents an exclusive collection of rare manuscripts and artifacts that emphasize Uzbekistan’s key role in the formation of Islamic culture, science and art.

The pages of one of the oldest manuscripts of the Quran, created in Arabia at the beginning of the 8th century, the Katta Langar, are among the most valuable exhibits.

The manuscript got its name because it was kept for a long time in the Langarota Mosque in Kashkadarya region’s Karshi district.

The Quran was written on parchment in the most ancient forms of Arabic script, in the Kufi and Hijazi scripts. The average page size is 53x35 cm.

The manuscript is the most outstanding achievement of Islamic calligraphy and demonstrates the high level of medieval scribes’ skill.

The Second Islamic Arts Biennale will run until May 25, 2025. The venue is the Hajj Terminal of the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
