On January 30, the national stage of the international hackathon ActInSpace was launched at Tashkent University of Information Technologies. The large-scale event brought together students, experts, and representatives of Uzbekistan’s space industry, becoming an essential milestone in the development of the country’s innovation ecosystem.
The hackathon is being held as part of a cooperation among the National Centre for Space Studies of France, the Uzbekspace Agency, and the Tashkent University of Information Technologies. This partnership highlights a high level of international trust and interest in the development of space technologies in Uzbekistan.
One hundred talented students from various regions of Uzbekistan are taking part in the national stage of the hackathon. Working in teams, they are developing innovative solutions to current space-related challenges within a limited timeframe, while receiving support from experienced mentors and industry specialists.
As noted by the Deputy Director of the Uzbekspace Agency, Mukhiddin Ibragimov, holding ActInSpace in Tashkent clearly demonstrates Uzbekistan’s active integration into the global space community. According to him, the project enables viewing space technologies not only in a scientific context but also as an effective tool for addressing real-world challenges facing society, while showcasing the high potential, creative thinking, and readiness of young specialists to respond to global challenges.
Teams that place second and third will be able to complete internships at the Uzbekspace Agency, while the winners of the national stage will earn the right to represent the country at the international ActInSpace competition, which will be held in Bordeaux, France.
