The German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt), with the support of the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation, organized a four-day training seminar for employees of Uzbekistan’s Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection.

The event was attended by Farrukh Karabayev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection, Sabine Zigelski, an official from the Bundeskartellamt, and Lija Grauberger, Head of Consumer Protection and Competition at the German Sparkassenstiftung.

They shared their views on Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to implement advanced international practices in improving competition and the business environment and further strengthening cooperation in competition development, antitrust regulation, and consumer protection.

Renowned expert and Senior Case Manager at the Bundeskartellamt, Sabine Zigelski, delivered a presentation on “Planning a Research Project”. The presentation covered German competition law, monopolistic abuses, cartel enforcement, legislative norms ensuring the control of mergers, investigation strategies, assessments, information requests, and internal documentation.

Practical sessions were also held, during which seminar participants received expert answers to their questions of interest.
