The voting process for the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Local Councils is in full swing. The voting process is based on the majoritarian and proportional electoral system, which creates all conditions for voters.

The first briefing was held in the Press Center of the Central Election Commission with the participation of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission. Information was provided about the election process.

As mentioned, 11 thousand 28 polling stations created by regional election commissions opened their doors to voters this morning. Also, 57 polling stations at diplomatic missions and consulates of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 40 foreign countries started working, including polling stations established in Eastern countries.

In this year’s elections, 19 million 944 thousand 859 voters in the country were included in the electronic list of voters in the automated system of managing the election process. In addition, there are 165 thousand 631 voters abroad.

This year’s elections are being held based on a mixed electoral system in accordance with the renewed Constitution and national election law. Five political parties operating in the country and their candidates are competing in the elections.

In this election, 875 candidates were nominated for the Legislative Chamber, 3,625 candidates to the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, People’s Deputies to the regional and Tashkent city councils, and 24,850 candidates for the district and city councils of People’s Deputies.
