A presentation of books by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping – On Governance, On Respecting and Ensuring Human Rights, and Eradicating Poverty – published in the Uzbek language, was held at the Tashkent Human Rights House.

The event, organized by the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Embassy of China in the country, was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun.

Director of the National Human Rights Center, academician Akmal Saidov, noted that, at the initiative of the Head of State, a task has been set to fundamentally increase literacy and reading culture for 2026-2030, under which the average number of books read per person should reach 10 per year.

As President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized: “Every state and every nation in the world is strong above all by its intellectual potential and high spirituality. And the source of this invincible strength is books and libraries – the great invention of humanity”.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun, spoke about the content and relevance of the books written by the President of China. The Chinese diplomat expressed gratitude to the National Human Rights Center for organizing the presentation at a high level.

The Embassy of China donated about 800 copies of literature to the Human Rights House.

It was noted that the large number of Uzbek-language sources among the donated books opens up new opportunities for academic and educational exchange, deepening interstate dialogue, and expanding humanitarian cooperation.

Books on human rights and Chinese culture are particularly important for enriching the collections of the Human Rights House and other leading information and library centers across the country.

Following the event, which brought together more than 500 representatives, both offline and online, 350 of the books donated by the China’s Embassy were allocated to the National Library of Uzbekistan. A corresponding certificate was ceremoniously presented to the representatives of the National Library.
