In turn, Jean-Philippe Brochu highly appreciated the democratic reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He also noted that the 150th IPU Assembly, held for the first time in Central Asia, namely in Tashkent, was organized at the highest level, and the significant initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at this major forum fully correspond to the issues on the agenda of the international summit.

“This is my first visit to Uzbekistan. The dynamics of socio-economic transformations and the results of large-scale reforms implemented in your country have attracted the world community’s attention. I’m also planning to visit the historical cities of Samarkand and Bukhara”, said the Canadian Parliament representative.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish a regular dialogue and enhance practical cooperation between the parliamentary offices to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.
