The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Uzbekistan Ufuk Ulutaş visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Current issues of further deepening interstate and interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye were discussed, and promising areas for expanding bilateral ties were outlined with the Chairperson of the Senate, Tanzila Narbayeva. Special attention was paid to organizing upcoming visits, joint events, and the exchange of experience.

Thanks to regular political dialogue and close cooperation between the two countries’ leaders, Uzbekistan –Türkiye relations continue to develop dynamically. Strengthening interparliamentary cooperation is considered one of the priorities of the bilateral strategic partnership.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of the agreements and signed documents reached during the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Türkiye and confirmed Türkiye’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan.

The parties confirmed their commitment to active cooperation within the framework of international and regional parliamentary structures, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Countries.

Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Women, Culture and Sports of the Oliy Majlis Orzigul Kazikhanova met with the Director of the Marta Centre, Iluta Lace.

Supporting women victims of gender-based violence and creating effective mechanisms to empower them were discussed, and the importance of developing a methodology based on international standards for NGOs and interested organizations working in this area was noted at the meeting. The parties exchanged views on the prevention of violence against women and children, priority areas of cooperation in this area, and possible joint projects in the future.

Iluta Lace highly appreciated the progress of democratic reforms in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the increasing role of parliament in reforming society. It was noted that the Marta Centre will expand cooperation with relevant organizations in Uzbekistan to achieve common goals in human rights and gender equality.
