Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Smita Pant visited Samarkand State University.

Issues of cooperation were discussed at the meeting with the University Rector, a scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rustam Kholmurodov. Particular attention was paid to science, education, agriculture, economics, engineering, biochemistry, nuclear physics, and agrobiotechnology.

Rustam Kholmurodov proposed creating joint research centers with Indian universities at SSU to jointly address issues related to the fight against poverty, ensuring stability, hydrology, and climate change.

The Ambassador supported this initiative and expressed confidence that the cooperation would be promising.

This higher education institution employs 8 professors from India, and about 10 researchers have been trained in prestigious Indian universities.
