On September 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the National Institute of Pedagogical Excellence named after Abdulla Avloni and got acquainted with the updated conditions.
Uzbekistan builds its development based on education. In this area, radical reforms are being carried out, and large-scale programs are being implemented. The most important link, the foundation of youth policy is primary and general education.
Uzbekistan has more than 37 thousand kindergartens, and more than 10 thousand schools, and new ones are being built locally. But this is only part of the goal. The main issue is the quality of education.
Therefore, teachers’ and specialists’ qualifications are constantly improving. The resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the continuous professional development of employees of preschool and school education organizations adopted on June 21 this year raised this system to a new level.
In particular, this institute was transformed into the National Institute of Pedagogical Excellence named after A. Avloni. The existing complex has been overhauled, and two additional buildings have been built. All of them are equipped with modern equipment. The number of students and areas of study have increased.
The institute was opened in 1934, 90 years ago. In connection with this, a museum was created here. It reflects the attention of our Jadid ancestors to science, the education system founded by Abdulla Avloni, textbooks of that time, and the stages of general education development. With the help of artificial intelligence, the image of enlightened Jadids has been recreated. There is also a library with a collection of about 88 thousand books. The Head of state inspected the museum and the library.
The institution has introduced traditional, alternative, and dual forms of advanced training and retraining, including those based on artificial intelligence technologies. The situational training room is connected via video link to the centers of pedagogical excellence of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the regions. Software platforms such as continuous professional education, management training courses, teacher certification and assignment of a qualification category, and preschool and school education management have been introduced. This will allow prompt training of directors and teachers in the regions in new pedagogical technologies and methods.
Today, a school principal must be an experienced teacher, a good manager, and a strategist in some sense. The institute’s curriculum pays much attention to this, and a school of principals has been created.
The inclusive education and psychology rooms will improve the qualifications of defectologists and educators working in this area. Video lessons are filmed in the media studio. The institute also has a conference room, computer rooms, seminar rooms, a canteen, and other facilities.
As is known, today, in Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to the exact and natural sciences. Schools are equipped with modern equipment and teaching aids. This requires teachers to adapt to new methods and master new knowledge and skills. The STEM laboratory serves the retraining and advanced training of teachers in this area.
Based on modern educational requirements, the number of study hours at the institute has increased. To create decent conditions for teachers, the dormitory has undergone modern repairs, and the number of places has been increased.
The President visited these premises and got acquainted with the new amenities and opportunities.
“The Institute should not wait, but take the initiative, lead. It is necessary to work more with teachers and directors from the regions to improve the quality of all schools. People of the new era, the creators of our future, are brought up in school. Without education, there is no future”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Instructions were given on training teachers and mentors abroad, harmonizing advanced world experience.
Over the past year, about 4,300 heads of educational institutions have improved their qualifications at the Institute. Also, about 2 thousand directors and candidates for directors have undergone training in management courses. More than 113 thousand teachers took part in classes through the Continuous Professional Education platform.
The Singapore International Education Organization has retrained 100 school principals and 200 mathematics and science teachers. The Center for International Studies has also begun operating within the institute.
Uzbekistan will generally establish a continuous retraining system and advanced training for management, teaching, and specialized personnel in preschool and school education organizations. From 2025, they will improve their qualifications once every five years with time off from work. In addition, “Professional Development Hours” and “Professional Development Day” will be introduced in general secondary education institutions. The best practices accumulated in presidential schools will be widely used in general education institutions through continuous professional development.
