The practical training on storyboarding in animated films will be conducted in Tashkent from 20 to 24 November 2018. It is organized by the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan in the framework of the project “Strengthening the Development of Cultural and Creative Industries in Laos, Uzbekistan and Rwanda”, and in close co-operation with the State Studio of Animation of Uzbekistan.

The film industry is one of the most important cultural industries in Uzbekistan, including animated films. Animated films are recognized as a complex industry playing a critical educational role. Numerous sociological studies claim that modern cartoons and animated films are capable not only of influencing the child’s behavior, but also influence the formation of his/her worldview.

The aim of the training is to improve the skills of Uzbek animators and young professionals in the development and production of high-quality and technically modern animated films and serials that meet international standards. The training will be attended by about 30 participants from various organizations working in the field of animated films: State Studio of Animation, Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture, National Institute of Arts and Design named after K. Bekhzod, Focus Film School and private animation studios.

According to UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan, the training will be conducted by the leading international expert and animation director – Mr. Michail Tumelya (Belarus).

The project “Strengthening the Development of Cultural and Creative Industries in Laos, Uzbekistan and Rwanda” was launched in 2017 with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea through the Korean Funds in Trust (KFIT).
