On 2-4 October this year, Tashkent will host the Second International Statistics Forum of the CIS in cooperation with the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee.

The forum is expected to attract over 150 participants, including the leadership of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the Director of the United Nations Statistics Division, the Director of the UNECE Statistics Division, the heads of statistical agencies from around 20 foreign countries, and experts from other international organizations.

The forum’s main objective is to exchange advanced international experience in the widespread use of digital technologies in statistics. Key topics include modernizing statistical processes in digital transformation, exploring alternative data sources to produce official statistics, and using big data and artificial intelligence extensively.

In addition to the agenda discussions, the forum will also host the 70th meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of CIS Member States, meetings between heads of statistical offices, the CIS Statistical Committee, and experts from other international organizations.

According to the Statistics Agency, this forum is being held within the framework of the Development of Statistics in the CIS program, approved by the CIS Executive Committee. The first International Statistics Forum was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on September 12-14, 2023.
