On 5-6 February 2021, an International Conference “Alisher Navoi in the Context of World Orientalists” on the occasion of the 580th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher Alisher Navoi’s birth will be held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
The conference partners are the Turkic Council, the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, the University of Ankara, Marmara University, the University of Ankara Haci Bayram Veli, the University of Allameh Tabatabai, the Kazan Federal University, Kabul University, R.Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies together with the diplomatic missions of Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan in Uzbekistan.
Uzbek people and all mankind remember and honor the greatest thinker, genius poet, outstanding statesman Alisher Navoi. Eminent poets and scholars considered him their mentor. In his work, the founder of Uzbek literature and literary language called for friendship and mutual understanding. In Navoi’s poems, there are lines dedicated to the lives of Slavs, Arabs, Armenians, Greeks and other peoples. The poet advocated a peaceful life.
Alisher Navoi was a true folk poet. In his poems, he glorified the best human qualities. He glorified men of duty, love, friendship, patriotism. A thinker dreamed of a just state, that people would live their lives with their labor and were not in slavery.
In Uzbekistan and far beyond, the 580th anniversary of the great ancestor’s birth is widely celebrated. It is gratifying that today, as centuries ago, people read his immortal works with interest and love. Students of educational institutions study them, scientists and teachers dedicate their scientific research to Alisher Navoi’s creativity.
In recent years, the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies has carried out considerable work in the study and popularization of Navoi studies. Six monographs have been prepared: “Introduction to Navoi studies”, “Some symbols and images in the works of “Hamsa” by Alisher Navoi”, “XXI century. Problems of the lyrical heritage of Alisher Navoi”, “Image of man and his spiritual world in the novel “Khairat ul-abror”, “Manuscripts of artistic works of Alisher Navoi of XV-XVI centuries”, “Traditions of writing “Arba'in” in eastern classical literature (on the example of works of Jami, Navoi and Fuzuli)”.
A 10-volume monograph entitled “Alisher Navoi. “Garoyib us-sigar” (comments and interpretations)” has been published in Uzbek and English within the framework of the State applied project “Creation of scientific interpretation and comments of ghazals of the Divan by Alisher Navoi “Garoyib us-sigar”. Collection “Wisdom of Navoi” was published, in which 30 phrases from the work “Mahbub ul-qulub” were translated into 18 languages. The methodical development “Muhokamat ul-lug’atain” and the corresponding textbook were published. A computer program has been developed to study the works of the great poet.
The International Conference, to be chaired by TSUOS Rector, Gulchekhra Rikhsiyeva, will be attended by 130 speakers from 15 countries representing 60 universities and organizations from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkey, the United States, and Uzbekistan. The conference will make it possible to identify the current tasks facing the scientists-orientalists, Navoi scholars, in particular, such as deepening research on the study of the works of Alisher Navoi from the source study and textological points of view; deeper analysis of the peculiarities of poetry, language and style in the works of the poet; determination of the correlation between the literary heritage of Alisher Navoi, the development of eastern civilization and eastern philosophical knowledge; formation and education of a new generation of Navoi scholars.
