The Al Jazeera Media Network in Doha has published an article titled “Tashkent – an open museum of masterpieces of Islamic architecture in Central Asia”.
The article begins with the statement that tourists worldwide visit Tashkent to see historical monuments and outstanding examples of Islamic architecture in Central Asia. In Tashkent, one of the most significant points on the Great Silk Road, modern buildings are in harmony with mosques and religious schools built in the Middle Ages, which turns the city into a unique tourist destination.
The author writes that the Hazrati Imam and Suzuk Ota mosques, Kukaldosh, Abul Qosim madrasahs, and Sheikh Khovandi Tohur and Yunuskhan mausoleums are among the most visited places in the old mahallas.
– The Hazrati Imam complex, which unites many unique historic buildings, is one of the brightest examples of Central Asian architecture”, the article notes. – The complex, named after the famous religious figure Abubakr Kaffal-Shashi, includes a mausoleum, Barakhan and Muyi Muborak madrasahs, and the Hazrati Imam Mosque. Festive prayers are performed on a large square in the center of the building, which can accommodate thousands of believers at the same time. “Usmon Muskhafi” (“The Quran of Uthman”) is kept in the Muyi Muborak Madrasah, which was renovated in 1856-1857.
