Azerbaijan National Music Day is not only a holiday, but also a significant opportunity to strengthen cultural ties between peoples. Today, a bright event dedicated to the Azerbaijan National Music Day was held in Tashkent at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev.
Participants were presented with a photo exhibition, a book stand, and compositions of Azerbaijani musical instruments called “Our National Music”. The event was opened by Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev, Nadir Alimirzayev and Executive Director of the “Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan” Friendship Society, Professor Erkin Nuriddinov.
In his speech, Mr. Alimirzayev noted that September 18 is the birthday of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the founder of the professional musical art of Azerbaijan and the author of the first oriental opera.
The Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center also noted that in 1995, on the 110th anniversary of Hajibeyli’s birth, September 18 was declared the National Music Day by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
The dance ensemble “Azerbaijan” performed at the event, delighting the audience with national dances. After that, the film “Arshin Mal Alan” was presented – a legend of Azerbaijani cinema, filmed in 1945 based on the operetta of the same name by the outstanding composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
