The delegation of the Parliament of Uzbekistan participated in the 57th Session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in Saint Petersburg.
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva presented the initiatives developed by Uzbekistan.
It was stressed that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is essential in promoting democratic principles, developing parliamentarism and civil society institutions, and strengthening unity between peoples.
The Assembly’s observer missions monitored 100 election campaigns. The deputies of the Parliament of Uzbekistan also take an active part.
The participants focused on the activities of the Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies, established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The members of the Uzbekistan parliamentary delegation supported the recommendations, which contribute to strengthening multilateral cooperation, reflect legislative initiatives, and serve Uzbekistan’s interests.
As part of the meeting, the Chairperson of the Senate met with the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, and the Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev.
Valentina Matvienko and Maulen Ashimbayev congratulated Tanzila Narbayeva on her election to the post of Chairperson of the Senate and wished her success in her activities. Special attention was placed on expanding cooperation with the Parliament of Uzbekistan, implementing agreements reached at a high level, and establishing an effective dialogue between regional representative bodies.
The implementation of essential tasks on the agenda of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries and the development of interparliamentary relations were discussed.
