Addressing the International Scientific and Practical Conference “New Central Asia: Challenges and Opportunities in the Era of Global Transformation”, the President of the Pakistan Center for South Asia and International Studies, retired Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, praised the development of Central Asian cooperation.

“In recent years, Central Asian countries have managed to resolve acute regional problems, including territorial and water disputes, thanks to unity and consolidation. It is impressive that Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were able to resolve contentious border issues through dialogue”, the expert noted.

He also emphasized that “this experience of Central Asia is successful and can serve as an example for other regions, including the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)”.

In addition, Mr. Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery emphasized strengthening interregional connectivity between Central and South Asia.

“The prospects for creating the “CA + SAARC” format may have great potential, which will become the driving force of transregional connectivity”, he concluded.
