On September 21-22, Surkhandarya hosted Open South International Business Forum II.

The event was attended by Surkhandarya region’s khokim T. Bobolov, investors, representatives of international financial organizations from more than 20 countries such as Afghanistan, Austria, Canada, Japan, Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom, diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan and trading houses.

Rich potential and investment opportunities of Surkhandarya region were demonstrated at the plenary session. Deputy khokim of the region A. Aripov informed participants about the economic, social, geographical opportunities and investment features of the region. 

Information was provided about major projects implemented in development of minerals and expected results from them, modern technologies widely used in agriculture and first achievements in this direction.

Finished products manufactured at domestic food, textile, leather and footwear, pharmaceutical, construction and other enterprises were presented in the pavilions. The presentation of IdeaList (Turkey) on establishment of modern tourism destinations in Baysun small tourism zone aroused great interest among forum participants.

An exhibition of agricultural products grown in the region and national handicraft products, more than 300 types of finished products manufactured at Termiz Cargo was organized within the framework of the forum.

Cooperation exchange was held during the two-day international forum. Roundtable discussion on acceleration of economic cooperation, further development of cooperation between Surkhandarya region and Afghanistan was also held with participation of Afghanistan entrepreneurs.

Guests visited modern enterprises, became familiar with production of competitive finished products, talked with entrepreneurs and workers, as well as visited ancient archaeological and historical sites.
