A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Chairperson of the Senate, participated in the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Geneva. The summit was dedicated to leadership for inclusive and lasting peace.

The event included discussions on women’s leadership, empowerment, and the promotion of inclusive policies. Special attention was given to the role of women parliamentarians in ensuring sustainable peace and stability.

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, delivered a speech in which she noted that the key principles of the UN Security Council Resolution “Women, Peace and Security” are reflected in the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the National Strategy aimed at ensuring gender equality.

It was noted that Uzbekistan was one of the first countries to launch a global campaign in support of gender equality under the slogan “Achieving gender equality, action by action”, which was presented at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The event also featured proposals aimed at strengthening the role of women in public and political life, as well as promoting sustainable and regular interparliamentary dialogue on gender equality and peace.
