Maria Timofeeva, the third-ranked tennis player of Uzbekistan, is performing successfully at the WTA 500 tournament in the Mexican state of Yucatán.

In the semifinals of the qualifying competition, she defeated Martina Capurro Taborda of Argentina 6:4, 6:1, and in the final qualifying match for a place in the main draw, she beat another Argentine player, María Lourdes Carlé, 6:3, 6:3.

Now, in the first round of the main draw of the prestigious tournament, Uzbekistan’s athlete will face Magdalena Fręch of Poland. The match will take place on February 25.
