The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Gilbert Houngbo, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, who is in Uzbekistan on a working visit.
Gilbert Houngbo highly appreciated the ILO’s practical cooperation with Uzbekistan and congratulated the country on its election as a member of its Administrative Council. He emphasized that Uzbekistan has made significant progress thanks to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s strong political will.

The meeting also highlighted the commendable results of Uzbekistan's efforts under the Decent Work Country Programme for 2021-2025. These outcomes, it was noted, serve as a benchmark for many other nations.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the development of a draft Decent Work Programme for 2026-2030, corresponding to the tasks defined at the 112th session of the ILO and the priority areas of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the conversation, the parties agreed to develop cooperation to reduce gender inequality and combat discrimination in labor, ensure the employment of persons with disabilities, and create favorable and decent conditions for them.
