Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), visited Karakalpakstan, where he held a series of meetings and events to strengthen cultural dialogue and cooperation in the arts field.
One of the first institutions Sultan Raev visited during the trip was the Nukus branch of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan.
During his visit, Sultan Raev invited the university’s student theater to participate in the annual Turkic World Student Theater Festival organized by TURKSOY.
At the conclusion of the cultural program, Sultan Raev met with the university’s leadership and faculty. He praised the students’ high artistic level and emphasized the importance of the institution’s active participation in TURKSOY’s cultural initiatives. He also noted that the university is a member of the Union of Universities of Arts and Culture of the Turkic World.
The next stop of the visit was a unique landmark – the Turkic Yurt located in the “Ak Kush” complex in Nukus.
Sultan Raev received detailed information about the structure, noting its grandeur, and expressed confidence that it would host many important events. He also highlighted the complex’s tourism potential, stating that the infrastructure surrounding the yurt could become a key cultural and recreational center for the entire Turkic world.
The final highlight of the visit was a tour of the renowned State Museum of Art named after Igor Savitsky in Nukus.
After exploring the exhibition halls and carefully viewing the displays, Sultan Raev praised the exceptional quality of the artworks: “The quality and volume of the collection surpass those of many museums in world capitals”. He described the Savitsky Museum as a “Louvre in the desert” and emphasized its importance not only for Uzbekistan, but for the entire cultural heritage of the Turkic world.
