The share of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries in Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover over the past three to four years has been 50-51 percent.
The SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure is based in Tashkent, highlighting Uzbekistan’s significant role in promoting collective security.
In general, Uzbekistan has been actively involved in the organization’s activities since its inception. Within the framework of the SCO, Uzbekistan has proposed numerous significant initiatives aimed at enhancing trade, infrastructure, and transportation networks, as well as expanding economic ties among member states.
The SCO’s activities are coordinated from its headquarters located in the city of Qingdao. The headquarters includes several functional zones with a total area of 108 square kilometers. It consists of a transport and logistics system, a seaport, a railway infrastructure, and a specialized airport. All elements are integrated into a single management system, ensuring effective interaction and coordination among them.
International trade is conducted from this logistics hub within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, involving Eurasian states. The Pearl International Expo Center is situated here, serving as a permanent international exhibition site for the SCO, as well as a specialized institute dedicated to training and professional development of specialists in international economic relations.
The Center coordinates meetings organized within the SCO at all levels, provides logistical support and trade turnover management, conducts scientific research, and organizes forums and exhibitions. Thanks to this, Qingdao has become a key city contributing to the development of the SCO.
A media forum, featuring journalists from the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, begins here today.
