The Domestic Tourism Fair took place at Registan Square in Samarkand to further develop domestic tourism and strengthen cooperation among entities operating in this field.

Tour operators, travel agents, and representatives from hotels, hostels, and guesthouses attended the event, held under the slogan “Visit Uzbekistan!”

“It is planned to increase the number of foreign tourists to 5 million and local tourists to 7 million this year”, says Rustam Kobilov, Deputy Hokim of Samarkand region. “The concept of tourist season is gradually losing its significance, as tourists have been coming all year round. Samarkand is a city with great tourism potential. If we use the available opportunities effectively, we can increase the share of tourism in the economy”.

The fair has evolved into a platform for exchanging views on increasing tourist flow, enhancing service quality, and fostering cooperation.

The event featured an exhibition of Samarkand handicraft products, a national costume presentation, and a performance by the “Chavki” folklore and ethnographic group.

The active participants were worthily awarded at the event.
