Samarkand hosts the bread festival, symbolizing national traditions and values, generosity, and hospitality.

The famous Samarkand flatbreads and bakery products from different regions of Uzbekistan were also presented here. The event includes workshops on cooking Samarkand flatbreads in traditional tandoor.

Samarkand region’s Acting Hokim, A. Boboyev, and the Minister of Justice, A. Tashkulov, who addressed the festival’s opening ceremony, congratulated the event’s participants and guests.

In February 2025, the world-famous Samarkand flatbread was registered by the Ministry of Justice as a geographical indication.

Activities are underway to include the Samarkand flatbread on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

In this regard, it was noted that this festival will promote Samarkand flatbread as a unique brand of the region.

The festival has become an excellent opportunity to revive ancient traditions and pass them on to the younger generation, introduce the cultural heritage of Samarkand to the world, support craftsmen and artisans, contribute to the development of tourism, and strengthen the spiritual values of the Uzbek people.
