In 2023, passenger traffic at Samarkand International Airport more than doubled. Air Marakanda, the private company that operates the airport, handled 1.01 million passengers last year, up 2.05 times from 2022.
This is due to the fact that nine new airlines began flying to Samarkand, five of which are foreign. Jazeera Airways, Pobeda, Panorama Airways, China Southern, Silk Avia, Humo Air, Centrum Air, SunExpress, and UVT Aero are among them. The most popular destinations from Samarkand were Moscow, Istanbul, Saint Petersburg, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
International air travel accounted for 918.5 thousand passengers, and domestic air travel accounted for 92.3 thousand people. The most famous regional destination was Tashkent city.
Currently, Samarkand International Airport serves flights to 7 domestic and 21 international destinations.
