Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, shared her views on Uzbekistan’s ongoing accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO) via her Telegram channel.

– In 2024, our country made a significant step forward in this direction, made possible by the bold economic reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, – Saida Mirziyoyeva noted.

In particular, two key WTO working group meetings were held last year, allowing Uzbekistan to move forward with drafting the main membership document – the Working Group Report. Additionally, bilateral negotiations with 15 countries, including the United States, China, and Japan, were completed. As a result, Uzbekistan has already signed 23 agreements in its WTO accession process.

Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized that 20 key laws to enhance business transparency and competition were adopted quickly. She expressed confidence that Uzbekistan will continue progressing at the same pace this year, striving to become a full-fledged member of the WTO. In her view, this will increase the country’s investment attractiveness and help Uzbekistan businesses integrate into regional and global value chains.

– The ultimate goal of WTO accession and the reforms initiated by the Head of state is the well-being of citizens, the creation of decent jobs, and the transition to more efficient economic governance, – the Assistant to the President concluded.
