The 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union continues in Tashkent. We spoke with the head of the Lithuanian delegation and member of the country’s parliament, Rūta Miliūtė, a participant in the event:
– Today, the world is changing very rapidly, and the number of geopolitical conflicts is increasing. Parliamentarians from around the world must come together to discuss how we can overcome existing challenges, improve people’s lives, and achieve peace.
We are delighted that such an important event – the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union – is taking place here in Uzbekistan. We hope that productive discussions will be held and that decisions will be made to help achieve peace and the Sustainable Development Goals. This is vital for the well-being of our nations.
This is my first time in Uzbekistan, and I am very impressed. Overall, the Tashkent Assembly is being conducted very effectively, and I am confident that we will make the best possible decisions.
