Rostov-on-Don hosts Uzbekistan – Russia roundtable discussion
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don organized a roundtable discussion on “Russia and Uzbekistan: socio-political aspects of relations between the two countries”.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don organized a roundtable discussion on “Russia and Uzbekistan: socio-political aspects of relations between the two countries”.
The meeting was organized by the Legislative Assembly, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Public Chamber of Rostov region, as well as the regional branch of the All-Russia People’s Front and the Public Chamber of Rostov-on-Don.
From the Russian side, the event was attended by officials, the diplomatic corps, representatives of business, academic and scientific circles, public figures, graduate students and students of the Russian State University of Economics, as well as representatives of local media.
At the event, detailed information on the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in socio-political, economic and humanitarian spheres was brought to the attention of participants. Particular attention was paid to the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country, the development of dialogue with people, reforms in respect for human rights, the fight against corruption, the education and healthcare systems, and tourism.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral Uzbekistan – Russia relations, including in education and training in Rostov region of specialists for the nuclear power plant under construction in Uzbekistan.
Rectors of Tashkent State Technical University, Tashkent branch of Turin Polytechnic University and Andijan Machine-Building Institute took an active part at the roundtable discussion.
Following the event, a delegation of Uzbekistan higher education institutions held a meeting with the leadership of the Russian State University of Economics, during which the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between higher education institutions.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Andijan Machine-Building Institute and the Russian State University of Economics, which provides for the study of the issue of opening new departments of accounting and audit, logistics and information security at Andijan higher education institution.
