At the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, the Permanent Missions of Uzbekistan and Indonesia to the UN held an event titled “Promoting Culture and the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development”.

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, the discussion was attended by representatives of UN member states, UN bodies, and international organizations, including the Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova, and Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov.

Ms. Gayane Umerova highlighted the role of the creative economy sectors in preserving cultural heritage and contributing to economic development. She also provided information on the successful hosting of the 4th World Conference on Creative Economy in Tashkent and the preparations for the 43rd UNESCO General Conference to be held in Samarkand in 2025.

In Uzbekistan, as in the rest of the world, the concepts of “creative economy” and “creative industry” are becoming increasingly popular, contributing to introducing new approaches and ideas across various sectors.

The meeting focused on the contribution of the creative economy to sustainable development, social integration, and innovation, as well as prospects for future cooperation.
