Representatives from 34 countries unite for a common goal
Uzbekistan Energy Week has kicked off at the CAEx Uzbekistan International Exhibition Complex.
As part of the event, an Energy Forum was held on “New Energy: Innovation, Sustainable Development and Regional Cooperation”, bringing together representatives of relevant agencies, local and foreign experts, specialists, and partners.
The forum featured speeches by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus Denis Moroz, and other participants, who noted the important role of ongoing energy sector reforms in developing the country’s economy.
As Jamshid Khodjayev emphasized, investment in infrastructure, digital technologies, and regional cooperation is becoming a key factor in the sustainable development of the energy sector.
“Today, energy has become a strategic area for our country”, he noted. “To this end, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, large-scale reforms are underway. The sector is open to private investment, public-private partnership mechanisms have been introduced, and a transparent investment environment has been established. As a result, in recent years, about $35 billion in direct investment has been attracted to the energy sector, and 9 gigawatts of new capacity have been commissioned. Total generating capacity has reached 25.8 gigawatts, while electricity production has increased from 60 to 85 billion kilowatt-hours. At the same time, green energy is actively developing: solar and wind generation capacity has exceeded 5.5 gigawatts, and the share of clean energy has reached 30 percent. Solar panels with a capacity of more than 2 gigawatts have been installed on residential buildings and business facilities. Another important priority remains the expansion of localization processes: the volume of domestic products and services for the energy sector is growing significantly, and considerable potential remains in this area”.
Forum participants discussed in detail current issues in the sector, including ensuring energy security, the efficient use of resources and renewable energy sources, and strengthening environmental sustainability. Advanced technologies and innovative solutions were also presented, enabling participants to learn about current trends, exchange experiences, and explore opportunities to implement new projects. Special attention was paid to developing regional cooperation, implementing joint investment projects, modernizing infrastructure, and strengthening international partnerships.
“Despite the high demand for energy in industrially developed regions, domestic resources are not always sufficient to fully meet needs”, said Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus Denis Moroz. “Therefore, the use of alternative energy sources plays an important role in ensuring energy security. In recent years, the transition to green energy has intensified worldwide, but its effectiveness depends directly on each country’s natural and climatic conditions. The number of sunny days, wind patterns, and geographical features determine the potential for renewable energy development. From this point of view, when shaping energy policy, what matters is not a universal approach but strategic decisions adapted to each state’s actual resources and conditions”.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan Energy Week has become an important international platform for marking a new stage in the development of the country’s energy sector, expanding cooperation, attracting investment, and introducing advanced technologies. A clear confirmation of this was the participation of 580 companies and brands from 34 countries, 140 speakers and moderators, and more than 1,500 delegates. These figures set a record in the event’s entire history.
The week includes the 28th International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan – OGU 2026”, the 19th International Exhibition “Energy, Energy Saving, Alternative Energy Sources – Power Uzbekistan 2026”, the specialized section “Green Energy-Saving Technologies – GETCA 2026”, and the Uzbekistan Energy Forum, the Oil and Gas Conference, the International Energy Conference, and the Youth Energy Section.
