Talks between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, with the participation of official delegations, were held at the Kuksaroy residence.

The prospects for strengthening practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia were reviewed.

Warmly welcoming the Leader of Serbia, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that this first summit in the history of bilateral cooperation will be a historic milestone, elevating relations between Uzbekistan and Serbia to a qualitatively new level.

“Your official visit in the year marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations is a historic event. There is great sympathy for Serbia in Uzbekistan. Our nations are united by strong bonds of friendship and a similar mentality”, noted the President of Uzbekistan.

Priority attention was given to increasing bilateral trade and preparing a comprehensive cooperation program in key sectors such as mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, information technologies and digitalization, the agro-industrial complex, tourism, and many other fields.

The importance of developing new transport routes along the “Central Asia – Balkans” corridor, including within the framework of the Trans-Caspian route, was emphasized.

To advance the economic cooperation agenda, an agreement was reached to hold the Intergovernmental Commission’s first meeting in Tashkent next year.

Issues of cooperation in the field of organized labor migration, as well as in the cultural, humanitarian, and educational spheres, were reviewed.

The leaders also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.
