It is no secret that today’s world is experiencing economic fluctuations and disruptions in supply chains. Under such conditions, open dialogue with developed countries, based on mutual trust and respect for principles, becomes especially important.

This is precisely the goal behind Uzbekistan’s wide-ranging measures to support foreign investors operating in the country.

This was particularly noted by representatives of the delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, who recently paid an official visit to Uzbekistan.

We present the opinions of Italian partners on the outcomes of the negotiations held at the Samarkand Congress Center with the participation of the leaders of both countries.

Massimo Schirò, Director of Italy’s Export Credit Agency SACE:

– After the official visit of your country’s President to Italy two years ago, relations between the two countries have reached an entirely new level. At that time, the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership was signed, along with a series of agreements to deepen multifaceted cooperation. These documents are already bearing fruit. The recent return visit by the Italian side has also proven to be highly productive. As a result of active mutual contacts, trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Italy and Uzbekistan is steadily advancing. This is evident in the growing number of joint ventures established in your country and the increase in export volumes. It is especially worth highlighting Uzbekistan’s efforts to implement market mechanisms, support entrepreneurship, ensure healthy competition, and protect private property.

Stefano Corgnati, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy):

– We have signed memoranda of understanding with relevant institutions in the energy sector in Uzbekistan. This is an essential step for advancing scientific research. We also plan to create a joint research laboratory involving experts from both countries and to establish an exchange of experience in the industrial sector. In addition, we intend to develop cooperation to use energy and water resources efficiently. In this context, I would like to express gratitude to the leaders of both countries for their continuous support. It should also be noted that within the framework of the visit, plans were supported for launching a branch of the University of Tuscia in Uzbekistan and for implementing dual-degree programs with the universities of Pisa, Trento, Roma Tre, and Ca' Foscari.

Andrea Benveduti, Senior Vice President of Ansaldo Energia:

– It is noteworthy that your country is undertaking large-scale efforts to strengthen energy stability and increase the share of green energy in its energy system. We welcome Uzbekistan’s plans for the active use of renewable energy sources and the launch of solar and wind power plants in various regions of the country.

I am very pleased to note that we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uzatom Agency. This document will elevate technological cooperation to a new level. We also invite other Italian companies to collaborate with Uzbekistan, and we look forward to long-term and mutually beneficial relations.
