The 11th International Scientific and Expert Forum “Primakov Readings” was held in Moscow, serving as a key international platform for discussing pressing issues in global and regional politics. Among the participants were representatives of government institutions, international organizations, and academic and analytical centers from various countries.
The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) took part in the forum, presenting the regional perspective of Central Asia amid the transformation of the global order. The Institute’s Director, Javlon Vakhabov, spoke at the thematic session titled “Greater Eurasia: A Space for Responsible Development”, during which he outlined the key priorities of Central Asia in the current stage of development.
He noted that in recent years, the region has shown steady progress in consolidation, strengthening mutual trust, and enhancing the level of political and economic cooperation among the countries of the “Central Asian Five”.
According to the expert, this transformation has been made possible thanks to the proactive and well-calibrated foreign policy of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, based on the principles of openness, good neighborliness, and respect for the national interests of partners.
Special attention was given in the speech to the results achieved in regional rapprochement. In particular, over the past five years, mutual trade among Central Asian countries has more than doubled, while the number of intergovernmental consultative mechanisms on transport, water resources, security, and humanitarian issues has significantly increased. Regular consultative meetings of regional heads of state have been launched, joint economic and expert platforms established, and coordination within international organizations has intensified.
Following the discussions, participants agreed on the richness and constructive nature of the dialogue and expressed their readiness to continue cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
