At a session of the lower chamber, the draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Ratification of the Regulation on the Secretariat of the ‘Central Asia – China’ Format” was reviewed.

The “Central Asia – China” format represents a strategic platform, and its secretariat is being established through the signing of the relevant founding documents by China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

As noted, this form of diplomatic dialogue is being created to elevate cooperation between the states to a new stage, to establish centuries-old bonds of friendship and partnership based on mutual respect and trust, and to expand practical cooperation.

The Secretariat of the “Central Asia – China” format is being established in accordance with the Xi’an Declaration adopted by the participating states of this format on 19 May 2023 and serves as its executive body. The Secretariat provides organizational, technical, and informational support for summits and meetings of foreign ministers.

The draft law provides for the ratification of the Regulation on the Secretariat of the “Central Asia – China” format. The document consists of a preamble and four sections that legally define the body’s tasks, powers, structure, and composition, rights, obligations, and status.

As noted, the adoption of the draft law will allow Uzbekistan to participate in the Secretariat of the “Central Asia – China” format, effectively promote regional initiatives on this platform, and safeguard national interests.

The draft law was adopted and submitted to the Senate.
