President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the recently opened Regional Skills Development Center in Urgench.
The complex was built with a $9 million grant from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). It is equipped with modern machinery and simulation systems necessary for training in high-demand professions. The center offers training in 10 fields, including automotive maintenance, welding, lifting equipment operation, electronic and household appliance repair, furniture production, hairdressing and cosmetology, mobile videography, and hotel services.

The campus spans nearly 2 hectares and includes modern academic buildings, workshops, a dormitory with 64 beds, and auxiliary facilities. The institution can provide six-month vocational training programs to up to 300 students annually.
The President visited the classrooms and spoke with students training in hotel services.
“We will upgrade Urgench Airport to international standards in partnership with Incheon Airport. We are building major tourist centers and hotels. And if we want more foreign tourists to visit Uzbekistan, the level of service must be world-class. Tourists come for our history and nature, and if the service is excellent, they will leave satisfied. Much depends on communication culture, etiquette, and staff training. So, take this opportunity and master your profession. In the future, strive to become entrepreneurs yourselves”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

The center also offers training in electric vehicle maintenance in cooperation with the Agency for Labor Migration, as well as South Korea’s Hyundai and Germany’s SBH West. This will help prepare personnel who meet the demands of both the domestic and international labor markets.
Extensive international cooperation is developing. In January this year, the center’s administrative staff completed a two-week professional development course in South Korea. More than 20 instructors and trainers are continuing their training in that country.

The Head of state emphasized that qualified vocational training is the foundation of industrialization and the nation’s overall development. Instructions were given to ensure the efficient use of equipment, the rational organization of training shifts, and the expansion of youth participation.
Thereupon, the President concluded his visit to Khorezm and returned to Tashkent.
