The German Bundestag has elected Friedrich Merz, Leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), as the new Federal Chancellor. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier appointed Merz to a new position at his official residence, the Bellevue Palace. On the same day, a new government was formed.

In connection with this, a press conference for media representatives was organized at the Embassy of Germany in Tashkent.

The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Uzbekistan, Manfred Huterer, who spoke about the main activities of the new government, the goals outlined, priorities in domestic and foreign policy, as well as further prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan. During Friedrich Merz’s tenure as head of government, the participants expressed confidence that Germany’s domestic and foreign policy, including relations with Uzbekistan, would reach a new level.

Special attention was paid to the issues of bilateral cooperation in investment, migration, ecology, healthcare, and education.
