On November 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting on measures for socio-economic development and further improvement of the investment climate and business environment in Andijan region.

Andijan region has high economic potential. The visit of the Head of state in February this year and the tasks set during it gave additional impetus to the region’s development. Good results have been achieved in industry, entrepreneurship, trade, services, tourism, and agriculture.

At the same time, many opportunities remain unrealized. Several opportunities were identified during the studies conducted in the districts.

For example, Chinese investors launched a project to grow peppers using drip irrigation and processing on 600 hectares in Oltinkul and Jalaquduq districts. Calculations show that this will allow the export of products worth $15,000 per hectare.

In Pakhtaabad district, in cooperation with a company from the United Arab Emirates, 470 hectares of cherries and berries have been cultivated. The entrepreneur asked the state to provide infrastructure to facilitate the timely fulfillment of investment obligations.

The possibility of restoring the activities of 4 poultry enterprises in the region and employing 650 people from low-income families has been identified.

ADM Electrics in Asaka produces 28 types of wires and multimedia systems for cars. Expanding the localization of production of models such as Onix, Tracker, and Kia Sonet will increase the enterprise’s capacity and income.

At the meeting, the Hokim of Andijan region presented a draft resolution on using these and other opportunities. It provides target indicators for the socio-economic development of Andijan region for 2025. In particular, tasks have been defined for developing investments in the amount of 3 billion 100 million dollars, implementing 334 investment projects, providing employment for 305 thousand people, and exporting $1 billion.

Also, taking into account the population density, opportunities will be created in the land issue in the region. A total of 1,800 hectares of land will be changed, including areas not used for agriculture, including hilly areas. Production and service complexes and residential buildings will be built on these lands.

The Head of state, having approved the proposals, gave additional instructions on the effective use of new opportunities, providing projects with modern infrastructure, and increasing employment and incomes of the population.
