Deputy group from the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis together with the Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection held a workshop dedicated to September 16 – International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

The adoption in 1985 of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer had become a real step for international community to the solution of the ozone problem. Within the framework of this convention, international cooperation in scientific research, systematic monitoring of the ozone layer, production of substances depleting the ozone layer, chlorofluorocarbon compounds, as well as the information exchange were envisaged.

At the event, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan in 1993 ratified the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol, gradually adopted all its changes and strictly follows the relevant requirements and rules of the convention.

At the workshop, it was also noted that deputies are carrying out systematic work on improving the norms of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On protection of the atmospheric air” concerning the protection and preservation of the ozone layer.
