
A press conference dedicated to the 7th Tashkent International Marathon was held at the Agency for Youth Affairs.
At the conference, the Deputy Minister of Sports Avazjon Karimov and others noted that in recent years effective efforts have been made in Uzbekistan to engage the public in mass sports, and the Tashkent International Marathon is a shining example of this. It was pointed out that the number of participants is rapidly increasing each year, and the participation of foreign athletes attests to the growing popularity of the Tashkent International Marathon worldwide.
The main start is scheduled for April 13: participants can challenge themselves on the classic marathon distance (42 km), half marathon (21 km), and a 10 km run. This year, updated routes will be laid along the roads adjacent to the Yangi O’zbekiston (New Uzbekistan) Park.
On the eve of the primary race – on April 12 at Magic City Park, the traditional Kids Run for children, an inclusive race for people with disabilities, a 3 km run, and race walking competitions will take place. All events start at 8 a.m.
The prize fund for the 7TH Tashkent International Marathon amounts to 639 million UZS. In addition, 15 million UZS will be allocated to set a national record for Uzbekistan in the marathon distance and 10 million UZS for the half marathon distance among both men and women.
Anyone wishing to participate in the marathon can join – professional athletes and amateurs, regardless of citizenship. Participation in the 42 km (marathon), 21 km (half marathon), 10 km, and 3 km races, as well as in the race walking competitions, is open to men and women aged 15 and older.
Participants of the main distances (marathon, half marathon, and 10 km) will be divided into the following age categories: separately for men and women aged 15-34 years, 35-49 years, and 50 years and older. Winners in each category finishing in the top three positions will receive valuable prizes from the marathon partners.
In the Kids Run races, children aged 5 to 9 can participate in the 1 km race, and those aged 10 to 14 in the 3 km race. In addition to individual participants, corporate teams, organizations, and sports clubs may also apply to participate in the marathon.
The organizers are the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent City Administration, and the Central Asia Run and Walking Academy, in cooperation with the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation and the Central Asian Athletics Association.
The event is held with the support of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, JSC Uzbekneftegaz, the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan National News Agency, the Information and Mass Communications Agency, the Republican School of Higher Sports Skills in Athletics, and running clubs.
The Tashkent Marathon is a recognized international sporting event and is included in the World Athletics competition calendar (International Association of Athletics Federations). The updated marathon course has been certified by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) with the involvement of an official Category “A” course measurer, ensuring its compliance with international standards.
The number of participants in the 7th Tashkent International Marathon has reached nearly 1500 people, including citizens from 28 countries. Registration for the marathon is ongoing.
