On May 28, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand and visited the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari. Verses from the Quran were recited.
Imam Bukhari is held in the highest esteem throughout the Islamic world, and the number of visitors wishing to visit his mausoleum grows yearly. A new complex is being constructed here to expand facilities for pilgrims.

The Head of State reviewed the progress of the construction works.
The total area has been expanded to 44 hectares. Construction has been completed on the mausoleum, a mosque accommodating 10,000 worshippers, and four minarets.

The new complex will serve not only as a pilgrimage site but also as a center of enlightenment. It will include a museum, administrative buildings, hotels, and service facilities. Hadiths from the collection “Sahih al-Bukhari” will be inscribed on the portal and the walls of the iwans.
The President was briefed on the conditions being created in the complex. Expanding greenery within the inner grounds and along the walkways was emphasized.
