A meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women, Zulaykho Mahkamova, and the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Ms. Sabine Machl.

Ms. Sabine Machl highly praised the positive reforms and transformations being carried out in the country, emphasizing them as Uzbekistan’s unique experience.

At the meeting, proposals were put forward for cooperation within the framework of various projects aimed at reducing poverty by training women in income-generating skills, supporting the return of low-income female labor migrants, and decreasing instances of prolonged separation from families and children due to labor migration.

It was also proposed to establish close cooperation within the framework of the Asian Women’s Forum, scheduled for next year.

Ms. Zulaykho Mahkamova provided information on the measures being taken to regulate migration, organize specialized foreign language courses for women seeking guaranteed employment abroad, establish centers in mahallas to support women’s employment and health, as well as family and women’s centers in districts and cities.

The parties exchanged views on the implementation of promising joint projects.
