The 150th IPU Assembly hosted a special side event on “Strengthening parliamentary dialogue and promoting climate initiatives”.

The event was attended by members of the Commission of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on mitigating the effects of climate change and accelerating the transition to a green economy.

The negative effects of climate change on a global scale and its impact on human health, food security, and natural resources were discussed at the event.

The participants, including representatives of parliaments from various countries, international organizations, and civil society institutions, shared their views on the role of parliaments, legislative initiatives, and effective communication methods in addressing climate change.

Special attention was paid to intensifying discussions on addressing climate change at the parliamentary level, establishing an open and systematic dialogue with the public on this issue, as well as developing climate diplomacy.
