Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov met with Oliver Stolpe, UNODC Regional Representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan.

The parties summarized the results achieved as part of the cooperation and discussed areas for further interaction, new goals, and plans.

Mr. Burkhanov noted that international cooperation is one of the priority areas of Uzbekistan’s anti-corruption policy. He expressed gratitude to the UN structures, particularly the UNODC, for their continued support of the Agency’s initiatives.

He emphasized that significant progress has been made in exchanging modern experience and strengthening cooperation within the UN regional platform.

Mr. Stolpe, in turn, praised the important reforms in Uzbekistan’s anti-corruption policy, particularly the efforts to ensure openness and accountability, introduce new preventive mechanisms to prevent corruption and develop digitalization in the sphere.

Following the dialogue, Mr. Stolpe supported the mutually beneficial proposals the Agency made in various areas of cooperation and expressed his readiness to implement them in the future.
