Several international observation missions have arrived in Uzbekistan to monitor the preparations for and holding of the upcoming elections. Thus, representatives of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) have begun their work.

One of the members of the IPA CIS mission, Stanislav Tkachenko, outlined his opinion on the preparation for the elections in Uzbekistan:

– We, a group of observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, began our work by studying the country’s liberal legislation, because essential changes have been made to it in the past and current years.

At the meeting with members of the Central Election Commission, we received answers to all the questions that interested us. In particular, how the electoral process was organized and is being conducted since the announcement of the elections and the adoption of the calendar plan four months ago and how things are going with the observance of this calendar plan by the CEC and subordinate organizations.

Another important point is the digitalization of the election system, to which the Republic of Uzbekistan pays serious attention. The CEC’s connections with political parties and subordinate organizations, the exchange of documents, and the compilation of lists of candidates nominated by parties have been digitalized.

All parties have been given equal time to appear on television and radio, and an equal number of publications have been determined in online and other publications. Regarding digitalization of the electoral process, Uzbekistan is a leader among the CIS countries. The IPA CIS member countries can use this positive experience as an example in the future.

It should be noted that the events scheduled in the calendar have been implemented, and all necessary conditions have been created for the work of electoral process participants, candidates from political parties, and organizers.
