The renowned Uzbek chess player secured victory at the Prague International Chess Festival, an international chess tournament held in the capital of the Czech Republic.

The competition brought together the world’s strongest grandmasters, with participants competing in three groups: Masters, Challengers, and Futures.

Representing the Challengers group, Nodirbek Yakubboyev achieved six victories and two draws in nine rounds, finishing as the leader with seven points. In the first-place tie-break match, he faced Danish grandmaster Jonas Buhl Bjerre, who also scored seven points. After an intense battle, Nodirbek emerged victorious, securing a spot in next year’s Masters group.

It is worth noting that another Uzbek chess player, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, previously competed in the Prague International Chess Festival, which has been held annually since 2019. He finished second in the Challengers group in 2022. In the 2024 tournament, he claimed first place in the Masters group.
