Today, the National Human Rights Centre of Uzbekistan (NHRC) and the United Nations Development Programme signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The signing ceremony took place during a formal event at the House of Human Rights on Human Rights Day.
The memorandum was signed by Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, and Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Centre.
This memorandum aims to develop concrete mechanisms to protect human rights and freedoms in priority areas, including combating poverty and inequality, ensuring quality education, promoting gender equality, strengthening resilient institutions, and providing equal and fair access to justice.
The Uzbek side expressed sincere gratitude to UNDP for its practical assistance in preparing national reviews and reports on the SDGs, and for helping to clearly reflect the inseparable link between socio-economic development and respect for human rights.
