On September 29, 2018, Crowdfunding platform – Mfond.uz was launched in Uzbekistan for the first time.

The event that was held at the Youth Press Club, dedicated to the presentation of the School Charity Fund – Mfond.uz, was attended by heads of ministries, agencies, government and public organizations employees. It was noted that funds raised on the basis of this platform will be used to strengthen the material and technical base of education institutions, support children from low-income families, and encourage gifted schoolchildren.

Not only sponsors, but also parents, compatriots living abroad, former students can financially support schools through the Mfond.uz platform. Funds can be transferred through local Payme, Upay, Click, international Visa, MasterCard and other payment systems.

Sponsors can transfer funds to an individual school account or to a general fund account. The funds will be directed to creation of laboratories, development of Smart Classes projects, equipment of schools, improvement of their infrastructure, and implementation of social projects for students and teachers.

According to project leader Rustam Karimjonov, there are 10 thousand schools in the country, the material and technical base of 60 percent of them requires improvement. Only 37 percent of schools have computer classes, 7 percent of them are connected to the Internet. The government allocates funds to improve the school infrastructure, however, sponsors are required to achieve the goals. The system is completely transparent. In order to ensure openness of the fund’s activities, information on received funds and their use will be provided on a regular basis.
