New approaches to implementation of infrastructure development projects
The Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the World Bank and other international financial institutions organized a conference on “New approaches to implementation of infrastructure development projects”.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the World Bank and other international financial institutions organized a conference on “New approaches to implementation of infrastructure development projects”. It was attended by domestic and international experts.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Sokhib Saifnazarov, the World Bank Country Manager for Uzbekistan Hideki Mori and others noted that the reforms carried out in the country focuses on improving the infrastructure of villages and creating all necessary conditions for the population.
Within the framework of this state program, a project implementation group has been formed under the Ministry of Economy and Industry to ensure the participation of international financial institutions, in particular the World Bank, and introduction of international experience.
This project with a total cost of 183.6 million USD will be implemented with the financial support of the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. It is noteworthy that Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, established two years ago, is investing in Uzbekistan for the first time. The project for 2020-2024 will take into account the issues of gender equality, regular training on labor practices for members of makhalla citizens' assemblies, monitoring and reporting on each identified case, raising public awareness on labor rights, as well as introduction of a feedback system along with improving the infrastructure of selected villages.
